Nest & Brew is an artisan Indian tea brand built around sustainability and Indian heritage. Inspired by the traditional Indian Dabba Tiffin, the stainless-steel lunch boxes carried through the streets of India for over a century, we designed packaging that transforms this everyday object into a reusable tea container designed to stay useful long after the tea is gone. Instead of producing disposable packaging, we built a circular sustainability system.

The packaging became the heart of the project. Crafted from food-grade stainless steel (SS 304), it does not degrade or leach, and keeps the tea protected from light, air, and moisture. The Khadi paper wrapped around it is where all the tea information lives. Once you peel it off, the branding goes with it, separating the premium design from the information on the label and encouraging consumers to keep, return, or refill the container instead of throwing it away.

To extend the sustainable experience beyond the physical product, we designed and developed the website as the operational centre of the brand's sustainability programme. A QR code engraved beneath the Dabba and placed on the Khadi paper label connects the physical packaging with the digital experience. By scanning it, customers can access the website, where they can find the story behind the tea, learn about its sustainability impact, locate return points, register reusable containers, and participate in the brand’s circular ecosystem.

Consumers can keep their Dabba in the kitchen for years, using it for spices, jewellery, coins, their lunch, or anything that deserves a container built to last, or return it through the Return & Refill programme in exchange for a discount on their next purchase or a donation to the community that grew the tea, bringing their clean Dabba to a partner point near them to put it back into circulation. In this way, we designed a system that encourages reuse, supports circular consumption, and creates a direct connection between consumers and the rural communities growing the tea.

The octagonal packaging is inspired by traditional Indian architecture and craftsmanship, while the lid shows the characteristic roof forms found on Indian temples. The removable Khadi paper label follows the silhouette of traditional Indian doorways, which symbolises the opening of those doors and welcoming consumers into a community built around sustainability and Indian heritage. Each tea variety (SKU) is distinguished by its own visual system while remaining part of a cohesive brand universe. Alongside the branding, we created a complete set of 3D visuals and animations to communicate each SKU and the product with clarity and emotion.

Our scope included brand strategy, visual identity, packaging design, website design, and 3D art direction and motion, creating a unified experience where every touchpoint reinforces the same purpose: turning packaging into a lasting product instead of a temporary one.
